We are delighted to announce Martina Laird has joined Tanya Moodie as patron of Roundabout. Martina has worked extensively in the industry as an actor She has recently completed a national tour of the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of Moon On A Rainbow Shawl by Trinidadian playwright Errol John. Her theatre work also includes The Royal Shakespeare Company (The White Devil, Troilus and Cressida, Three Hours After Marriage), The Royal National Theatre (The Five Wives Of Maurice Pinder), The Almeida (All the Little Things We Crushed, Liquid Gold) The Royal Court (Breath Boom) and the Donmar Warehouse award winning production of Othello.
With vast experience of working in television, Martina is probably best known as the popular character Comfort Jones on BBC’s flagship drama Casualty. In her five years on the show she also won two acting awards for her work from the Michael Elliott Foundation and the BFM Awards. She was also nominated for an Evening Standard Award for her role in Moon On A Rainbow Shawl.
In addition to her acting, she has directed productions for stage (Sunshine, Fly Me To The Moon, Glen Gary Glen Ross). She has taught extensively on acting courses in London including at Arts Ed, Weekend Arts College, RADA and The Identity Group
After meeting with team members and participating in a session Martina said
